Es Xarcu Beach, Ibiza

Es Xarcu is a small, secluded cove on Ibiza’s beautiful south coast, tucked between Cala Jondal and Es Cubells. Away from the island’s larger and busier beaches, this peaceful spot is a great choice for visitors looking for clear Mediterranean water, a relaxed atmosphere and an authentic Ibiza beach experience.

The Beach

Es Xarcu Beach, also known as Cala Es Xarco, is a small pebbly cove surrounded by Ibiza’s rugged southern coastline. The water is wonderfully clear and inviting, making it a lovely place for swimming and snorkelling on calm summer days.

The beach remains relatively undeveloped, which is an important part of its appeal. Don’t expect rows of sunbeds or a large beach club; Es Xarcu is somewhere to enjoy the sea, scenery and a leisurely Mediterranean lunch.

Access is via a narrow road leading down towards the coast, and parking close to the beach is limited, particularly during the busy summer months.

Restaurants at Es Xarcu and Nearby

One of the highlights of visiting the cove is Restaurante Es Xarcu, a long-established family-run seafood restaurant overlooking the Mediterranean. The restaurant specialises in fresh local fish and seafood, including Ibizan red prawns and shellfish, alongside traditional Mediterranean dishes. Its waterfront terrace makes it particularly popular for long summer lunches.

A short drive away, Ses Boques near Es Cubells is another excellent option for traditional Ibizan seafood. Hidden beneath the cliffs in its own secluded cove, the restaurant is known for fresh fish, seafood and salt-baked fish.

For a livelier beach scene, head towards nearby Cala Jondal, where you’ll find several well-known restaurants and beach clubs including Jondal, Yemanja and Tropicana Ibiza.

Reservations at Ibiza’s popular beach restaurants are recommended during the summer season.

Getting to Es Xarcu

Es Xarcu is in the municipality of Sant Josep de sa Talaia on Ibiza’s south coast. A hire car is the easiest way to reach the cove, although arriving by boat is another memorable option.
