Ses Salinas Beach - Playa de ses Salinas
Is Salinas beach the best beach in Ibiza ?…probably. Salinas (Las Salina / Ses Salinas / Playa de ses Salinas / Platja de ses Salines) is the most southerly point in Ibiza and the sand is fine golden sand with gently shelving in to the warm turquoise waters...in some parts of the beach you can walk about 30 metres out to sea and still the water will only be up to your waist (applies to all us grown-ups of course). Ideal for swimming, but for your safety there are also lifeguards on duty at regular intervals during the main summer months. The beach stretches 1500 metres from one end to the other, and you can walk around to the neighbouring beach at Es Cavallet.
From Salinas beach, you have views across to the sister island of Formentera, once upon time Ibiza & Formentera were joined at Salinas.
The whole area is a nature reserve and building is severely restricted hence there are only a couple of small hostal style hotels in the area and no buildings over 2 floors. There are really relatively few houses & villas in the immediate area.
Salinas is more than just one of the best beaches, it is also home to some of the best beach clubs & beach restaurants:
Guarana
Jockey Club
Malibu
Sa Trinxa
These are mostly open from around 10am to just after sundown. You
can hire loungers or make a reservation at most beach clubs, or
just turn up & see where has the best vibe...each different
venue tends to attract a different crowd so a walk along the beach
may help to work out which one will suit you best.
There are a number of life guard posts along the beach
Parking at Salinas is available (we're not sure exactly how many parking spaces but we think somewhere in the region of 500) and is charged at €6 per day for cars and €3 for mopeds & scooters. There is free parking available in a side road just close to the entrance…but for peace of mind, and a shorter walk, we recommend the paid for parking.
